She's late! She's late! And when Miyuki-chan meets a skateboarding Playboy bunny, she's going to be even later! Wonderland's never been stranger as everything from the door to the dormouse takes on feminine form. Created by the group of talented artists known as CLAMP (Magic Knights Rayearth, RG Veda, Tokyo Babylon, X) this beautifully animated, condensed version of the classic tale is a visual delight. Take a trip down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass with MIYUKI-CHAN IN WONDERLAND.
Yikes. When they say it’s condensed, they mean it. This pointless waste of animation cels is astonishingly painful. Most people I talk to who have seen it remark "what the hell was THAT!?" This is supposed to be a half hour of eyecandy, but the fact that this is CLAMP, makers of shows with such fabulous visuals as X, this pales in comparison. A completely nonexistent plot, not even the tinest hint of character devlopment, and background music that will have you begging for the pain to stop (one song: over, and over, and over, and over, and over...). Quite obviously someone at CLAMP thought it would be nice to do a strange, S&M version of Alice in Wonderland, only they didn’t have the time to make it a movie. As a result, huge chunks of the story are completely gone, the bits that ARE there are too intrusive to be able to ignore, and the characters that DO show up give NO explanations as to what they’re doing or why they’re there. Only to be viewed as an example of what happens when an excellent studio does something phenomenally bad; otherwise avoid this tortuous piece of trash.
Available subtitled through ADVision.
